CLEVELAND NATIONAL FOREST – Both sides of the Ortega (74) Highway were closed Wednesday night due to a blaze that burned about half an acre, authorities said.

The fire was fully contained by about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday though two engines were monitoring the site today for any possible sparks.

The fire was located near the county line within Riverside County, Ferrer said.

The flames spread to the forest from a vehicle fire on the highway, said Anabele Cornejo, assistant public affairs officers for the Cleveland National Forest.

The fire erupted at about 4:30 p.m. and was under control at about 6:30 p.m. There were no injuries reported.

Five fire engines, three helicopters and one aircraft were used by Cleveland National Forest fire units to combat the blaze.

Orange County Fire Authorities were on standby in case the assistance was needed, said OCFA Capt. Steve Miller.
