Travel Log – Sunday July 9th

This morning we drove to the nearest “T” station and took the subway into Boston where we first took a tour of Fenway Park. DSC00021Our tour guide Steve filled our heads with Fenway trivia and bad jokes. We had lunch at a nice Sports Grill next to the field. We then explored Boston and stopped at a couple of the graveyards there where we saw the Tomb of Paul Revere and his wife, and the grave of his first wife who died before Paul’s famous ride. We saw the headstone for Samuel Adams who was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and the Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

DSC00050We saw the headstone for the victims of the Boston Massacre, March 5th, 1770. We saw the headstone for the grave of Mary “Mother” Goose. Along with many other patriots graves and monuments to historical persons.

We walked along the freedom trail for awhile and visited the home of Paul Revere, walked through the Italian district (during the finals of the World Cup Soccer. Can you say madhouse?) and stopped at the Old North Church. Wendy had to take her leave of us during the walk to catch a flight to Germany.

Later we took the “T” back to our car and drove Dave home. We said our good byes and headed out for the Cape Cod timeshare in Mashpee. We got checked in and unpacked and settled in for the rest of our vacatoin.
