Travel Log – Friday July 7th 3:10 am

The Big Trip: Boston.
Wow! It’s early. Stacy and I were up at 2:30 am (Otherwise known as O’ Dark Thirty). Aren’t the bars just closing?
Anyhow, we’re up and getting ready to leave the house at 4:00. It’s about an hour and a half to Long Beach Airport from home. We expected to be in the Irvine house by now, so what seems to be crazy early would have been an hour later than it is not being in the Irvine house yet.
I’m bringing the bags downstairs and Stacy is Blow-drying her hair (Gotta have good hair to fly 😉 ) We’ll wake the kids in a bit and leave promptly at 4. The airline won’t wait for us.

It’s 6:00 am (Pacific Time) now, we’ve made it to the Airport and had the easiest time through an airport in a long time. Stacy and Bailey are sitting at the window watching the airplanes. Branden is listening to his iPod shuffle. We board around 6:30 am.

Its 5:30 pm (Eastern Time). We’ve made it to Boston and are waiting for our rental car. The long line at the rental counter has us waiting for almost 45 minutes to get settled in our car. We reserved a Jeep Grand Cherokee, however, they’re out. So they’ve upgraded us for free to a Dodge Durango. We didn’t really want a Durango, but what’re you gonna do? At least it has a DVD player for the kids. There’s a dent in the door that we didn’t see and we hope the rental company believes us or has a record of that dent.

We arrived at Dave and Wendy’s house around 7:00 pm and got hugs and a tour of the house. We got acclimated and caught up on things. The kids took to Dave and Wendy right away and soon had them occupied with hide and seek, dinosaur hunting, and poker…Stacy and I stayed in the house watching outdoor dinosaur hunting from the den because the mosquitoes were out in force and we did not want to be devoured.

We all settled down for the night around 10:00 pm and except for Bailey crying in his sleep and thrashing about on numerous occasions waking us up, we had a restful nights sleep and stayed in bed until 9:30. Time to get up!
